How To Dress YOUR Athletic Body

Hello!!!

I can only write from my own experiences, belief, and the research I conducted.

Although we are all entitled to our opinions, let's ensure we are all respectful of one another. These blog posts are for YOU. If there is a topic that you would be interested in that is not currently there, or that was not talked about in-depth, let me know on the contact page, Instagram, or Pinterest :)

Ultimately, please remember that everyone is different and beautiful!

YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL! (*me screaming at you with love*)

So, for today, I'm going to share with you how to dress your athletic body type.

!!!Please be aware that what is most important is YOUR comfort in your clothes :)!!!

RELATED: How To Understand YOUR Body Type (*Athletic Body included*)

The ATHLETIC body type is also known as the rectangle or the ruler body type. You do not have to feel pressured to pursue the stereotypical waist and curves on which the following advice is based on. Your body, as it is, is beautiful. No one should be judging. Remember that it’s primarily all about making yourself comfortable.

On that note, here is what is generally recommended for your body type:

1.Create a defining waist

  • Create curves by playing with shapes, cuts, and volume.

  • Wear clothing that focuses on your waist or wear a belt.

  • Draw attention to your waist by breaking up the athletic body type with bright colours/prints/textures… but not around the waist, or at least, not the same type.

2. Avoid!

  • Large or oversized clothing.

  • Waist-length clothing.

  • Tucking your tops into your bottoms.

3. Tops & Bottoms

  • Dresses such as empire dress, wrap dress, and X-line dress.

  • Jeans such as high-waisted, skinny, slim, wide, bootcut, and straight jeans.

  • Jumpsuits such as ruffled, belted, and drawstring jumpsuits.

  • Loose sleeves such as puffed, flutter, and flared sleeves.

  • Necklines such as the off-shoulder, scoop, sweetheart, and V-neck necklines.

  • Pants such as wide-leg, bootcut, and cargo pants.

  • Shirts such as ruffled, belted, and wrapped shirts.

  • Shorts such as loose, flared, and patterned shorts.

  • Skirts such as full, layered, and A-line skirts.

So, there you have it :)

HOWEVER, pleeeeaaaaaaase just do you. I am sure there are many examples where these “rules” weren’t applied and people looked amazing.

Wear what brings you confidence and/or comfort. If it’s something that you want to wear, wear it, go for it!

Plus, confidence + comfort goes a long way😊
